New JFM article on differential ablation

In our study of the origins of patterned formations on sublimating and ablating bodies, our local linear stability analysis has uncovered (what appears to be) the first known physical mechanism of their formation via differential ablation in laminar flows. More details on arXiv and a forthcoming article in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics. Congratulations to Blaine Vollmer and Dr. Alby Padovan!

Congratulations to Dr. Sandeep Murthy!

I am so pleased to announce that (now) Dr. Sandeep Murthy successfully defended his PhD thesis “Reducing Noise from Supersonic Jets using Linear Feedback Control informed by Resolvent Analysis” in January, 2025. Congratulations, Sandeep!
