In our study of the origins of patterned formations on sublimating and ablating bodies, our local linear stability analysis has uncovered (what appears to be) the first known physical mechanism of their formation via differential ablation in laminar flows. More details on arXiv and a forthcoming article in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics. Congratulations to […]

resolvent4py: a parallel Python package for the analysis, model reduction and control of large-scale linear systems published on github & SoftwareX
Led by Dr. Alberto (Alby) Padovan, a Python-based package for analyzing large-scale linear systems, such as derived from fluid dynamics simulations, has been released on github: https://github.com/albertopadovan/resolvent4py. SoftwareX and arXiv have more documentation.
Congratulations to Dr. Sandeep Murthy!
I am so pleased to announce that (now) Dr. Sandeep Murthy successfully defended his PhD thesis “Reducing Noise from Supersonic Jets using Linear Feedback Control informed by Resolvent Analysis” in January, 2025. Congratulations, Sandeep!
